Current Exhibition at Erlenweg 5
The newest collection building currently houses over 350 works by more than 20 artists integrated in an open space within a space concept. The idea of an “art walk” invites visitors to stroll through the generously and openly designed art space. From various angles, visitors discover changing perspectives of the individual exhibitions and the building’s architecture with its interior organic forms.
The homage to the late photographer Peter Lindberg, with whom the collector was a close friend, is the focal point on the first floor. Surrounded by his friends, the photographers Peter Knapp and Paolo Roversi, visitors find themselves in the best company of many well-known models and personalities.
Viewers get a comprehensive impression of the oeuvre of the Italian photographer Gian Paolo Barbieri as they continue their tour. The documentary film about his life’s work “The Man and the Beauty” by Emiliano Scatarzi was partly filmed in the Nicola Erni Collection.
To be discovered on the “Art Walk” are other large-scale works by Mark Bradford, Rashid Johnson, Daido Moriyama and Andy Warhol, as well as collaborative paintings by Jean-Michel Basquiat/Andy Warhol, which show formal and thematic connections. In addition, visitors experience works by Doug Aitken, Miles Aldridge, Elmgreen & Dragset, Hassan Hajjaj, Duane Hanson, Sylvie Fleury, Nick Knight, Helmut Newton, Stephanie Pfriender Stylander, Rankin, Julian Schnabel, Cindy Sherman and Emma Summerton.
